ALLen Reads: Celebrating 10 Years of Reading Together
ALLen Reads gives the opportunity to families, friends and the community to sit down together and share and enjoy the same book. For the 10th year, Allen joins cities across the country participating in a community “One Book” project that involves everyone reading and discussing the same book. Under the leadership of the Friends of the Allen Public Library, the one-book program choses “companion” books or a common themes, to the main book, to promote families and all generations to read and talk with each other. ALLen Reads is designed to stimulate interest in the pleasure and importance of reading and to engage the residents of our community as we come together - in schools, families, book groups, civic organizations and more - to discuss the book and the issues it raises. ALLen Reads encourages reading at all ages and to include everyone, especially those new to the country or Allen.
